The Consumer.AI: AI-powered validation for innovation sprints

Katrin Schulze·January 10, 2026·2 min read

In the food industry up to 80 percent of all new product launches fail. One of the main reasons: product concepts are tested with real consumers too late. This is exactly where The Consumer.AI comes in, a partner tool that we use as a first adopter in our innovation sprints.

What is The Consumer.AI?

The Consumer.AI is an AI-supported platform that validates product concepts in real time. Instead of weeks of panels and expensive market research, the tool delivers well founded assessments of purchase intent, price willingness and target group fit within hours.

Important: The Consumer.AI is not an in-house development by FutureFoodCo. It is a partner tool that we work closely with and that we were among the first to integrate professionally into innovation sprints.

How do we use it?

In our innovation sprints The Consumer.AI typically comes into play in phases 4 and 5, during concept assessment and validation. The flow:

First, the product concepts developed in the sprint are entered into the tool, including product description, target group and price positioning. Within a very short time the AI delivers a validation score based on trained consumer data.

Then comes interpretation: our innovation managers analyse the results in the context of the respective market and the company strategy. The AI delivers data, the strategic reading comes from us.

What can the tool actually do?

The Consumer.AI offers several analysis dimensions: a validation score that rates the overall appeal of a concept, a target group analysis that shows which consumer segments respond most strongly, a price sensitivity analysis for optimal positioning, and optimisation suggestions that identify concrete levers for further development.

Why not just classic market research?

Classic market research has its place, but it is slow and expensive. A typical concept test panel takes four to six weeks and costs five figures. In an innovation sprint that lasts only six weeks in total, that is unrealistic.

The Consumer.AI lets us test several concepts in parallel and optimise iteratively. That means more concepts, faster feedback, better decisions.

Our conclusion

AI-supported validation does not replace real consumer research, but it complements it perfectly. In the early phase of product development, when speed and directional decisions matter, The Consumer.AI is a game changer. We use it in practically every innovation sprint and consistently see better results than without it.
